Process: Orthrus Illustration

Orthros Illustration

Orthrus is the brother of Cerberus, in another publication I will give more details about the beast. In this publication, I will show how I designed and illustrated it in illustrator.

The first step was to search for images to find inspiration and to get some idea of how to create a pose for the beast. Orthrus has two heads and a canine body, and these are the images I will use.

This will be the position that inspired me to design Orthrus

When I was more clear about how to draw it, I began to design the beast and this was the result.

When I finished the sketch, I began to draw in Illustrator with the brushes that I created previously and published in another publication.

When the illustration is finished, it only remains to colour it with some preselected colours that I chose previously.

I chose purple because almost all canine fur is black, white or brown, and also this color is more diabolical and fits with the brother of Cerberus.

Then use the complementary color for the beast's eyes and teeth.

Then I painted the ground the color of the earth (brown) I added some stones and as the last step, I incorporated a texture to the ground to make it more real.
